Attendance at this year’s Celebrity Chef Tour at The Palisades Restaurant in Eggleston, Virginia was a huge success. Our little town of Eggleston had more guests booked than the Yankee Stadium dinner! Due to an overwhelmingly positive response, the owner of the Palisades, Shaena Muldoon, decided to host the event for two nights this year and both nights sold out!
Former White House Chef Walter Scheib, with help from Shaena and staff from both the Palisades and the Chefs Tour, prepared, cooked and served a truly wonderful meal. The appetizers were duck confit, stuffed artichokes, smoked trout and a blue cheese tart. Sublime flavors perfectly matched and were welcome after a return to cold weather in Eggleston. The first course was a blue crab cake married with a corn and crab chowder. This was followed by beef tenderloin with a firecracker sauce, green chili and hominy casserole and red bean and chorizo ragout. A magnificent beet salad followed and the meal was finished with a truly magnificent chocolate mocha tort.
We enjoyed the hospitality of the staff, greeted friends and neighbors, made new friends and thoroughly enjoyed all of Chef’s stories, all told with his blend of stagecraft and humour. Thank you all for making this a wonderful occasion!
